Naturopatch, Julie Dokas
Julie Dokas, originally from Connecticut, moved to Vermont to join Naturopatch of Vermont as their Director of Marketing & Sales in March of 2007. She has a background in holistic healing, as well as grounded experience in the natural products industry.
Professionally, Julie’s background includes 3 ½ years of inside sales for HerbaSway Laboratories, an herbal supplement company, as well as being the store manager & head buyer for a small natural food market in CT.
Her experience in the realm of mind, body, spirit wellness began in 1997 with learning Reiki energy healing, and since, has included studies at
Sunbridge College in Chestnut Ridge, NY in 1998 where she explored the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, the founder & creator of “anthroposophy”, Waldorf Education, Anthroposophical medicine, and Biodynamic gardening.
She continued her studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC where she explored eastern and western approaches to modern nutrition, graduating in 2001 with a certificate from the American Association for Drugless Practitioners as a Holistic Health Counselor. She has worked one on one with clients to assist them in improving their relationship with food, and reconnecting them to their innate wholeness. She continues to take courses & seminars on vegan, raw & live food nutrition, as this is a passion of hers, and where she believes, true magic & transformation happen. Julie herself has been a vegetarian/vegan for 14 years, and a strictly a raw-foodist for over 2 years.
Herbalism is a theme and a thread that has run throughout Julie’s life. In 2000 she did an apprenticeship at the National Center for the Preservation of Medicinal Herbs, in Rutland, Ohio, where she learned & researched cultivation techniques for endangered species of medicinal plants, and took classes on herbal theory, medicine making, & essential oils.
She continued her studies in Chinese Herbalism, which included study of the 5 Element theory, essential oils, and Touch for Health Kinesiology at The Tao of Health & Botanical Medicine, in Norwalk, CT. in 2001-2002
She is currently enrolled in the Gaia School of Healing’s Plant Medicine & Earth Education course, where she is deepening her knowledge of western herbalism, as well as plant spirit medicine, the magical, energetic & esoteric components of plants. Upon completion of this program, she will be a certified herbalist.
Julie balances out the nutritional & herbal components of her studies with energy healing. She has been a Reiki Practitioner since 1997, and a Reiki Master since 2001, and is certified in Esocen Energy Healing, levels 1 & 2. In the fall of 2007 she attended The Light School in Sedona, AZ to further enhance her knowledge of energetics & the Light Body.
